So, we finally managed to get here, after 18 months of scrimping and saving, we set off on our big adventure around South East Asia a little bleary eyed after one last farewell celebration (officially title Leaving Do Number 6, I think).

Against all odds we made it to the airport in plenty of time, said goodbye to my brother and my mum, settled down on the plane and began the 15 hour trip to Thailand. Best food and service on an aeroplane, although we did have curry for breakfast (surely not the last time though).

After a quick change at Kuala Lumpur, we set down in Phuket grabbed our bags and made for the taxi rank, where we were greeted by a group of enthusiatic taxi drivers. After gathering ourselves, we eventually found one, or rather he found us, and we set off down to Hat Karon, horn blearing and tailgating all the way. After a quick stop off at his 'base' we found our accommodation - My Friend Bungalow. Which, as we found out, isn't actaully a bungalow at all, it's a guesthouse just off the beach.

After deciding that we'd have a little lie down after our long trip, we woke up to discover night was upon us, and we didn't have a clue what time it was, how many hours ahead of London we were, and in fact what day it was... had we slept until Monday??? or was it already Monday when we got here??? A quick flick through the tv channels brought up the live Liverpool - Arsenal game about 20 seconds after kick off, so after a bit of hand maths, we figured out it was 11pm on Sunday night, and we might be able to head out of some Phat Thai after all :)

If you're sitting there imagining us soaking up the rays and sipping on coconuts to cool off, don't worry, we're not. The end of the monsoon season is still upon us, and it's greyer than a Thursday morning on Yorkshire moors... However, it is still in the mid 20's, so can't grumble. As soon as we've purchased a fetching 7/11 umberella each, we'll be making ourselves at home, eating plenty more noodles.

Shelley is finding the mismatched middle aged balding beer bellied old men with the young and attractive Thai (wo)men decidedly disgusting...

That's about it for now, will keep you posted, hope you're all well and fingers crossed, the sun will be out for our next installment...

All our love xxx

Hola!
Hellooo x heres one from the folks.... Dad sat and pondered the title of the message for far too long, so sent him off to get the wine :)

Good to see your settling in, turn the bloody football off and go and walk somewhere wet and spidery.

PS.. Lived on curry and rice for brekkie in Bali, fab!

Thats me done, heres Mum... I expect the session will timeout, so a disjointed 'comment' may very well happen...

Hi there, Mum here, D ad arrived down here this afternoon, lovely day in the garden, cleared the veg patch again, now looks as if there is a strawberry patch. Great see you both on Saturday, great treat for me.
Going to stay down here to the end of the week to paint David's downstairs loo and passage way. He cleared a bit out of the loft yesterday, so we made our trip to the tip as usual.
Pleased that you arrived safely, not so sure about the footie match.
Hope you got your brollies. LOVE MUMXXXX
Dad here nowxx
Hi Guys It will be nice to forget about work and all that - it probably hasn't sunk in yet. Anyway get yourselves turned round and start to relax. Shame about the footie from your point of view!! We won't mention N/cle ( yes we will - lost 2-1 at Reading ) I had a good week in Scotland with the boys and did lots of tiring walking so its taken me two days to recover. Take care - be safe Dadxxx

Phew... Dave xxx

Miss you both
Hi guys.

Wow, that all sounds so exciting.
Those parties you both went to sound really interesting.
Even if the music isn't great, it's just nice to be in a new location where everything is different.
Can't wait to meet you both.
We are still moving forward with the house. There were a few complications but they are all sorted now and we are back on track.
I am now looking for a new job. Susy made me redundant with no warning and no reason. I am going to see a solicitor tomorrow as none of it is fair in any way.
I don't think she is allowed to do that...I have worked so hard here, I really don't understand. I think she is going a bit crazy.
There was a huge, gigantis fire in Stratford today. The clouds of smoke were massive and tok up the whole sky.
Steve and I took the car to try and get closer...it was massive.
The police wouldn't allow us to get any closer but it was all on BBC when we got home.
We met our upstairs neighboors yesterday. They invited us for dinner and they turned out to be really funny, fun, party people and we had a great time all night. Shame we our moving out. You guys would get along with them really well. Our kind of peeps.
All right, take care guys and miss you both very very very very very much!
Kisses.
Helene
