Today we left the Danube and sailed into the Main Danube Canal, another awesome feat of engineering. This morning we crossed the Continental Divide, a celebratory cocktail was given, and we have been presented with a "Remembrance Certificate" from the staff. We were at the peak of the locks 1332 feet. and from now on the locks take us down. It is fascinating watching the water fill and lift us to a new height, now we are lowered down each time. Often outside our window is a sheer concrete wall as we pass through the system. This canal continues for 106 miles and at times we are delayed in our schedule depending on the shipping traffic.
This afternoon Gary and I went on separate tours, He loves World War 2 history, so he went to see the Nuremberg history buildings, where the Nazis met, where the trials were held
Wonderful entertainment tonight, Bavarian music, with lots of yodelling. I did not last the whole show, just a wee bit off colour, so turned in early.

coming into a lock
. He was "wrapped" and very pleased he decided on this option. My option was to tour the medieval part of Nuremberg, Unfortunately being Sunday the shops were closed, but I was able to sample the traditional Gingerbread, "Eilsen" Lebkuchn. I don't normally like Ginger but these were the exception, made on an edible wafer, and delicious. There was a Beautiful fountain in the centre, where you climb up the steps, stand on tippy toe and turn a golden ring to make a wish, naturally I had a go. Wonderful entertainment tonight, Bavarian music, with lots of yodelling. I did not last the whole show, just a wee bit off colour, so turned in early.
