What can I say, New York New York, what a buzz, so little time here, just really in transit, would love a week or more, Went on a night tour over 3 hours, I am sure 2 hours of that was just traffic. Felt quite safe, but busy people bustling everywhere. Went to an Irish Club for dinner and had Shepherds Pie, Gary happy with plain food. Hotel was really central, good brekkie complimentary, quiet room and around the corner 7th avenue, or Fashion avenue, you would not believe the shops, you need a credit card with unlimited funds.
Yellow cabs everywhere, not really any trouble getting one from the station to the Hotel, all the streets, avenues one way, and you work out the distances quite easily, 20 blocks 1 mile (I think) never any good at Maths. The food is enormous, every where you go such large serves, not 6 inch Subs they are 7 inch and huge.
Saw the Skyscrapers, United Nations Building, Chrysler Building, Grand Central Station, inside the station is amazing, marble, painted ceilings and chandeliers. There was a whispering corner or square, something like St. Pauls in London, you stand in 1 corner and whisper to the wall and across the way the other person can hear you. Manhattan at night Brooklyn Bridge really quite pretty.
Joined our Motor Coach next morning for our onward trip to Niagara etc. Aussies outnumbered by the Brits, would you believe, a few digs about the Ashes and the Rugby League. All pretty friendly, have quite a knowledgable guide Tom. Wish you could travel without luggage, organising and getting out each day for bag call painful.
