We have now left couple heaven and are down with the heavies in down town Koh Tao! We have booked ourselfves into a rather smelly little place called Sunset Buri Cottages, the bedroom is fine but the bathroom stinks of moth balls! Anything that keeps the mozzies away is fine by me!
Anywho, we booked our snorkelling trip for today because we were not partial to yesterdays weather, bit of a bitch really because yesterday turned out to be a scorcher and today the boat nearly sank from the storm that had set in on the way home!
Ok back to the story, we headed off to meet the pick up truck at 8am (they only use pick up trucks on the island, prob not enough pollution on the islands for them to function in) he showed in true Thai style, late, but at least he arrived! We got to the pier anyway after picking up our snorkels and stuff and went down to get the boat. We had to climb through 2 boats to get to our one, they were literally pulling boats out on top of each other banging off each other, anyway I was too traumatised after walking yet another skinny wooden plank to care after my obstacle course to get into the damn thing
Met a guy called Phil on the boat so he stayed with us pretty much for the day. We had a great time though, the brave ones jumped off the top of the boat but I could only slide in off the back brought the wrong feckin bikini! Note to self: do not attempt to jump off boat at any height with a strapless bikini!
The snorkelling sights were pretty cool, we came across this big black shadow in the water and it just stayed in the same spot but would change shape from time to time turns out its like a gazillion fish just hovering/swimming around together. Very cool to swim through. The places were fairly damaged from over use. The places we were were good enough but a lot of the coral was bleached and broken so there wasn't a whole lot of colour.
We were dropped off at Nangyuan Island its like paradise island for a secret hide away or for some serious diving. And thats when the weather changed! We just got some drinks on the island. We got the boat back and I tell ya it was rough going. It was swaying really hard from side to side with water coming in over the edges! Myself and Sheila were pretty scared, Phil was busy trying to secure the toilet door from knocking him out! The Thai people are gas we couldn't get a place at the pier becuase the weather had gotten so rough that there was a bit of a rush on at the pier so our boat just pulled up at a wall and out the the old faithful the long skinny plank of wood! Second heart failure of the day but we survived!
We headed out that night to the Lotus bar, it has beach parties every night, drink flying around the place. We went down there initially for a chat with a girl, Elvira, we met at the pancake stand. But as you know with us Irish we never know when to go home! She went home at a decent hour but of course the two die hards had to stay on! Off to the night club the lot! Think we made friends with every lady boy in the disco and then after about a million photos we headed off home with half a southern fried chicken between us. Oh the hangover that was ahead of us, and check out was in 4 and half hours!
