Well, first of all, Merry Christmas! (to everyone who celebrates of course!)
Today, we did the most awesome thing! We went scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef! It was absolutely amazing. I'm still in shock of the absolute beauty of all of it. Seeing as it was Christmas Day, very few scuba bookers were operating. We were lucky enough to go on a trip to this place called Marine World which is off of Moore Reef in the GBR (Great Barrier Reef). Pretty much it's this huge pontoon boat with picnic tables and places to go snorkeling. It was very nice and convenient for families especially since they had lifeguards for the snorkelers and provided stinger suits (bright red of course!)
We went on two dives that day. We only had to wear dive skin stinger suits because the water was 28 degrees (Celsius) which was so nice. For the first dive, we went straight off of the pontoon and we went down to a depth of 16.7 meters. It was a lagoon dive so the coral wasn't very deep and we could see everything very clearly. It was absolutely stunning. I've never seen anything like it. The only way to explain it is for you to see it yourself. The second dive that we did was a wall dive. The stuff out here was absolute amazing. Even better than the lagoon dive because not many people come out here whereas the other area is used by introductory scuba divers. We saw schools of fish and more clown fish, parrot fish, brain coral, staghorn coral. All of it! It was awesome.
I wish I had an underwater camera so that I could show you some of the stuff that we saw, but I'll just have to put some stuff up that I found on google. I gave my email to one of the ladies on our trip that did have a camera so hopefully she'll send me the pictures that she took. Cheers! More thumbnails ...
