One thing that I wont miss is being woken by the call to prayer at 4.45am every morning!  Mum didn't go back to sleep so she should sleep all the way home.

She is feeling alot better than she was. The rehydration salts have worked.

We met the group for breakfast (except Lily and Tony who flew back to America at 5am) and said farewell to each other and our guide Siobhan.

Mum and I headed off to our private tour of the pyramids.  Once again Saleeb was our guide.  He is just fantastic and so passionate and knowledgeable about his country and its history.  The best guide we have had for the entire trip without a doubt.  We have been so lucky to have him as a guide and egyptologist.

We initially went to the large pyramid, which I wanted to go into but all the tickets had already sold.  We walked around it for a while, being hassled by camel drivers and sales people.  Once again, they stopped when I spoke some Arabic.

We then went and had a look at the huge boat which was buried beside the big pyramid of Cheops.  There were 4 boats buried (one each side) to help the pharoah sail to heaven in the next life.  The boat is just huge at 31 metres long and 6 metres high.  The wood was sicamore and cedar and came from surrounding countries.  There are no trees big enough in Egypt to make the boat!  All hand made of course and no nails.  The rope is still the original rope and it looks brand new.  We thought that it must be replacement rope but it was made of linen and soaked in cedar oil, which preserved it.

We then went to the second and third pyramid.  I walked out into the desert where I could get a picture of all 9 pyramids together (the three main ones and the smaller ones for family).  I could just see the head of the Sphinx from where I was.

We then went to the perfumery where I purchased some (and a few more) essences.  It is very pure.  You check the quality of perfume by putting a drop in water.  The purest perfume is when the drop floats mid way in the glass.  If too much oil it floats and if too much alcohol it sinks.

I had befriended Aya (who operates the internet at the hotel) and she gave me a cuddle farewell.  She gave me a postcard wishing my the best and my return to Egypt.  I took a photo of her and she even offerred to take off her head scarf and have a photo taken showing her hair (which I wont put on the internet out of respect).  She is just georgeous (Gameella or Pretty).

We got ready to go to my friends home for dinner.  Typical Egyptian time, he was supposed to pick us up at 5.30pm but this turned into 7pm.  He took us all the back streets to avoid the traffic to get to his home at Heliopolis.  It was quite an interesting ride (too fast) but we felt safe.  As it was, we didn't get to his home until 9am. We had a few drinks and a rushed meal then he took us to the airport by 10pm for our flight at 12.30am.
