We stayed with family in Germany and hired a car, which allowed us to see quite alot of the country.
We stayed in the South West of Germany within walking distance to the Swiss and French borders. This was the base to see many towns in the area in Germany, Switzerland and France.
We spent two weeks getting to know family and seeing the local area.
We hired a car then drove from Paris, through Belgium, Netherlands then back into Germany along the Rhine River to the South Eastern corner of Germany (close to Austria). Then through Austria back into Germany.
Highlights
* Snow in the Blackforest - Like a Fairytale Postcard
* Seeing a frozen lake
* The Castles - Everywhere along the Rhine River. Our favourites were Herrenchiemsee (the inside was so ornate and covered in gold) and Neuschwanstein (the outside was how you imagine a castle should look and the views from inside were spectacular)
* Spending time with family and learning to communicate
* The History and Architecture
* The Food - there was so much of it and it was all so excellent
* The Icecream
Everywhere we went in Germany was just fantastic. I don't think the cousins could understand why I was so Snap Happy. Everything is so old and different to Australia. We found all the people in Germany to be very friendly.
It was also amazing to see the bunkers in the hills remaining from war times.
Dislikes
Boiled White sausages. Yuk - my stomach turned. The only thing I didn't like in Germany.
