We took off Friday afternoon, first leaving to Taichung where we lost Talitha on the train. She managed to get onto a train leaving 2 minutes before ours but only ended up about 20mins behind us. We then took a cab to Sun Moon Lake. It started out nice with a little English info video but the rest of the ride was consumed by Chinese Karaoke. We arrived at our hotel, dropped off our luggage and then headed out to explore. We started one way from the hotel and promptly hitchhiked towards some bright lights. We later discovered that we found the aboriginal village. We wandered around the market but the area we really wanted to go to was on the other side of the hotel. We managed to again hitchhike back and the couple took us right into Sun Moon Village. We wandered around for quite a while trying to find a particular hotel mentioned in our guide book. Upon realizing that meals were going to be costing more than the hotel we went to a little Italian place and well the picture of the foamy heart was kinda how we felt to be sitting down for dinner. It was a very nice meal. We then wandered around trying to find a night life only to discover that everything shuts down around 9:30. We found a couple foreigners and joined them for some drinks and games of dice. We managed to get a cab back to our hotel even after we were told they were all sleeping, and the hotel laughed at us for thinking they could call us one.
