Today we were supposed to snorkel.  Oh, did you notice the "supposed to" in there?  Yes, unfortunately, there was extremely high surf today, and our snorkel guide called off the tour.  It was disappointing, but fear not, we have vowed to go snorkeling on Kauai!
Because anything to do with the water was pretty much out of the question for today, we broke out our trusty Maui guide, and searched for a nearby hike...we settled on another hike along the West Maui cliffs (affectionately dubbed "Mars" by Matthew).
This time, we drove about 4 miles past the famous "Shannon got soaked" blowhole....we were on a hunt for the "Mushroom Rock."  After one false alarm (and by false alarm, I mean our guide had us starting the hike one mile too soon, and Matthew and I slid down a treacherous hill for about 15 minutes before I almost broke down, and we turned around), we were on our way to yet another amazing hike
We ended up at the bottom of the cliffs and were treated to several incredible pools of water...the ocean was crashing all around us, and as you can see from the videos, it was loud (and just a tiny bit scary!).  We also managed to hunt down some wildlife...Matthew spied an urchin in one of the mini pools of water and apparently, there are crabs all over the rocks...we know this because we came across several crab shells...and even one entire crab (albeit, a dead entire crab!).
The colors on this hike were awesome.  The rock was sprinkled with red, orange, yellow and golds...and the water was every shade of blue.  We hope you all enjoy our pictures!
Tomorrow we are off to Kauai...and are on the hunt for good snorkeling!
