We arrived late in Lima, checked into our air bnb, had some dinner and then passed out :)

We had recently booked our flight out of south america. Our flight had a stop over in Brazil and we realised that we had to clear customs and re-check our luggage.... which meant we needed a visa.
Our flight was in 4 weeks and slight panic began to set in.
There was a Brazilian embassy in Lima.. luckily.
So our first day we journeyed to the embassy to sort this out.
With photos done and documents filled out we handed over our passports and were told to come back in 5 days.

This hindered our plans for peru a bit since we only planned to stay in Lima that one night.

And so that afternoon we decided to head down the coast to Paracas.
It was a longer journey than expected with a protest that had the highway stopped but we eventually made it.

After a hectic couple of days we decided to take it easy on our first day here. We enjoyed a very tasty breakfast and took a walk along the water.

We finished the day with some beers on the balcony overlooking the water :)

Day 2 was a lot more fun than it sounds.... riding bicycles 40kms through the desert. The scenery was absolutely stunning!!!

It was mostly flat with some fun downhills. There were a few jumps to try along the way too.
We also stopped at a few beaches here which were all lovely!!!!

SUCH A FUN FILLED DAY!

Unfortunately there was one bay that everything gets washed up and we saw a lot of dead animals from all the pollution :(

After a very long day we had some dinner and a very good night sleep :)

From here we got the bus further south to Ica and then jumped into a taxi to the famous huacachina.. the desert oasis.

We had two nights here. We climbed up the sand dunes for a lovely view of this little town, watched some locals sand boarding, tried some sand boarding ourselves and went on a thrilling dune buggy ride :)

The buggy ride was super fun!!! and sand boarding on your belly instead of your feet was the way to go :)

The sunset in the dunes was the goldest of golden hours ive seen :)

After a fun time in the desert it was time to head back up to Lima. Our first visit back to the embassy was unsuccessful but luckily the second time we walked out with our passports, visas and smiles on our faces :)

We had some spare time in Lima to sit on the cliffs along the coast and watch the surfers, and the sunset

Because we had to wait for visas and backtrack back up to Lima, we had lost quite a bit of time in our itinerary. This meant we had to suffer a long 22 hour bus ride to cusco... but our adventures in the sacred valley made it all worth it.. stay tuned!!!
