Wow, its June!
Arrive in Puerto Iguazu around lunchtime, after the long bus journey, that was not too bad, and straight away notice the different temperature - its humid here, and the landscape is very different - its very much greener and jungle looking, and the earth is redder and wetter.
Puerto Iguazu is a small quite town, and find an OK place to stay.
Thursday June 2nd 2005
Its Iguazu day today, so catch the bus to the waterfalls, and then the mini train in the national park, and then onto the walkways to reach the falls
Strangely quiet (I was expecting a roar of water), until we reach the falls themselves, firstlyat Garganta Del Diablo (The devils throat) where there is a huge semi circle of falls, water pouring everywhere, with a massive amount of spray giving us a nice shower in the sun. Spray is so intense at the bottom of the falls (we are looking down from the top) that you cant see the bottom.
Truly stunning views, and probably caps all of the beautiful waterfalls I have seen over the last 12 months.
Walk back around and along the upper and lower circuits, where you see beautiful waterfall after beautiful waterfall - there must be hundreds of them.
Cross over to a large island in the river, Isla San Martin, by boat, for different views, and then by boat right into the heart of the falls - got a nice soaking, but protected my camera, and then dry off in the sunshine
