My Easter Island adventure is over too soon. But there is one last hurrah... My phome alarm is set for 6am but I am eager and awake 10 minutes beforehand.  Five of scurry around the hostel with torches and make for Mahinaīs rented 4x4.  We are drivinbg to Tongariki, the 15 moai, to watch the sunrise.

40 minutes later we are waiting in anticipation, along with a scattering of other tourists.  The sunrise isnīt the best, the aspect and orientation is not generous with the sun actually rising behind a nearby headland.  But nonetheless to see those 15 giant figures gradually rendered as silhouettes is not something Iīll forget anytime soon.  This is one rude awakening that I suspect Andrew, Kati, Kay, Mahina and myself will never rergret.  Fantastic apart from the German guy who broke rank, went too forward and became the 16th moai. Still I managed to use his figure to comic effect in one of my photos.

Back at the hostel I said my goodbyes after breakfast (pancakes again today - result). And it was soon 9.15am  and time for the transfer.  Colin and I queued for some time as the cases were searched by hand, the airport scanner had broken down.  Colin and I  spoke with Australian David, from my half day tour and also met numerous times when my full day  tour converged on the same site as his.  I figured the law must have been closing in on serial killer man, as he was also lurking at the airport with his mother in tow.

The flight was delayed, a first for LAN Chile (and Iīm not being fecicious) but we were back in Santiago, and the Holiday Inn by 8.30pm.   Colin and I ate at a place called Gatsbys in the airport terminal and then returned to the hotel bar for a couple of beers to mark the end of his holiday.  In bed by half twelve.  I had a train to ctach in the morning, another early start, just what I needed, lovely.
