After my tour of Guildford I ride Transperth to get the most out of the two hours I have available. I train back to the centre, do a ride to Canning Bridge with a view to walking back to the South Perth ferry. When I realise how far down it is, and that the station is in the midst of a freeway junction, Isimply catch the train back to the Esplanade station and walk the the north Perth ferry terminal. I catch this across the Swan River, spend 30 minutes there and then catch it straight back. The zoo is on the south side but a quick inspection showed me that I only had just over an hour before it closed - and that wasn't worth $18.
Back on the north bank I book tickets for Rottnest Island in the morning.
I then wandered to Northbridge, had a cheap Carbonara from a restaurant with on street tables (very Mediterranean) and then back to the hostel. I'm greeted at the hostel by Sinead and Sean, an Irish couple (no sh*t Sherlock) who were also part of the 'little creatures' set. They offer me some pasta they've cooked and can't finish - everyone is so generous here. It's another carbonara - but this time made with sausages. I still make quite a dent in it though. Oh and before I bumped into them, again, later by the pool I grabbed two stubbies from Queen's Bottleshop - MUCH cheaper than the neighboring Queen's pub from the first night. S&S are doing a tour to Albany in the morning so I won't see them again after tonight which is a shame. They are such a sweet couple.
Then its a relatively early night (1am) as I now have a ferry to catch in the morning!
