The moment has arrived! After a FREE bus to the airport, check in is smooth. The 'shadow' is dispensed with - I won't be seeing, or more to the point, carrying that thing until I get to Perth. Yay.
We take off at 11.49 from a congested Heathrow and we're in the hands of Les Smith and his cabin crew. Heading east evening draws in sooner than it should. Hey I just realised I'm curtailing my 40th birthday by taking this flight. This is rewarded by seeinng The Plough from a new and interesting angle somewhere across the Caspian Sea.
