We bought some sandwiches at Walter's then caught the "wave" to Surfside Beach. It was a bit windy but a spectacular beach with huge waves. Marty did not do his traditional dip because the water was "too rough". We read our books, had some lunch, watched the people, had good conversations and applied lots of sunscreen. We left to catch the bus back and freshen up for our final house tour.
The Greater Light house was absolutely charming. The 2 sisters who owned it were very arts friendly and it shows throughout. A beautiful home/ art studio. I loved the balcony that overlooked the garden in back. The staff was very friendly and informative. Marty struck up conversations with all of them. A regular patron of the arts is he. He also enjoyed the complimentary beverages and cookies.
As we headed over to the Wallaces house we stopped at a St. Paul's Episcopal Church. It was quite beautiful inside (more like those Catholic Churches I am used to) there was stained glass windows in abundance (Megan told us that they were by Tiffany!)
We headed over to School St. to visit the Wallaces. They have a gorgeous home! Greyson was a perfect host and Callie the Havanese stole my heart.
For dinner Megan drove us (via the scenic route) to Millie's of Madaket. What a fantastic spot. It felt like the edge of the world, we were on the far western tip of the island. The food was great, I had a local beer. We walked down to the beach afterwards to see the most spectacular sunset. Megan could not have planned a more perfect day for us. Have I mentioned how much I love her?
After dropping off the car back at The Wallaces, she walked her parents back to the Inn. What a Great kid we have!
