Went for a drink with Joe to get the rundown on the city and then he took us down to Puerto Madero (the marina area) which was near a lot of businesses and seemed a very wealthy area of Buenos Aires-it was class down there. On route we passed a street called ´9th of July´ and it is apparently the widest road in the world (previously was Champs Elysee in Paris) so that was an interesting fact on route!! After a handy enough walk down to the water area we began to get the munchies so Joe suggested to try a steak sandwich which are sold in roadside kiosks
Last night we went for dinner in a steak restaurant called Don Julio (first time to a proper restaurant while here) which was recommended by Joe and from Paul and Brenda who we met in Iguazu. It was really a treat as the meat was just incredible-usually we wouldn't be lovers of steak but for me its defo changing my views on it-it was like slicing butter with a knife and was so tasty it was unreal and the prices are so cheap compared to home. We had 2 big steaks, chips and veg and 2 cokes for just over 20 euro between us and this would be an expensive restaurant-cant wait to try other places for steak while here-we are meeting up with the gang from Dublin tonight for a meal and drinks in another restaurant that was recommended by many people so looking forward to that. We may as well eat well while here as its the main city in the world for steak!
Just a quick note on dogs over here which are all over South America it seems (for the dog lovers)
1) In Buenos Aires there are people called ´dog walkers´. Their job is basically walk about 10 dogs at once through the streets, its comical. We will put picture up when we can. We had heard of it on lonely planet but seeing it is so funny. It must be the only exercise they get as not many greens here- so people pay to get their dogs walked and they are so well behaved. You would be walking along a street and see a dogwalker with about 10 big sized dogs all around him.
2) Today we saw a dog dressed up-not like at home where you see the occasional jacket on a dog but these 2 poor dogs had not only a jacket on but also a pair of jeans for the male dog and a mini skirt/shorts for the female (again we have pic and will put it up)
3) Finally and unfortunately we don't have a pic of this one is something we saw walking home the other night. This shows just how well trained some of the dogs are here. A woman was out walking her big sized dog (like a greyhound in size and stature) He stopped by a tree to do his business but instead of just doing it on the ground like most dogs, up goes his 2 front paws onto the tree in front of him and the owner places a bag under his ass before he does his business. How well trained is that. It was gas-we just happened to be passing when we saw it and we looked at each other in amazement- couldnt imagine our dogs at home being so good!
