Had a brilliant day today, just exploring the immediate area. Went for a walk along the beach (it's about 5km tip to tip and we did a decent portion of that). Couldn't believe it was so quiet, especially on a Sunday and such a gorgeous day - we saw about half a dozen other people. But there are so many little bays/beaches like this along this stretch of the coast that people just pretty much find their own beach. Headed over the grassland for a little bit to Crayfish Bay on the other side - a rocky beach with caves and stuff, really impressive to see.
Headed back to the bach and had a barbeque for lunch (it's not a barbie, that's a doll!) - our first since coming to Australia/NZ! Really nice just to sit in the sun and enjoy the food. After a wee afternoon nap we headed down to the beach for a dip and some boogie boarding - it's smaller and lighter than a surfboard and you just lie flat on your tummy on in and body surf the waves - it's amazing fun (and great exercise, as my arms will testify 2 days later!) I fell off quite frequently, got knocked over and under by waves and was spitting salt water every few minutes but it was a great laugh - and the water was great (OK, still cold but better than Oz and just so exhilirating). I slept that night! Got a few more injuries to add to my biking one from the Hunter Valley - skinned knees from the sand/shingle, and bruises all over my upper arms from holding onto the boards. Great fun! Had another BBQ to round off the day, lovely.
