Ok, so that slow puncture in the air bed - not so slow! One sleepless night later we finally admit that, sorry, this bed has had its day and needs to be retired. By the way, all retired items in Tallahassee get put on the side of the road for the 'City' to pick up, but passers-by usually recycle these (good news!) before it gets collected for the dump. That being the case, we decided to stay in a motel for the night, and very nice it was too.
The next morning we met our landlord and agent at the house to inspect a SPOTLESSLY clean house and turn in the keys, say goodbye to neighbours, etc
Then we headed for the beach - one last visit to Shell Point, our closest beach, and our windsurfing training yard - fond memories of spotting dolphins (and maybe a shark once!?). Black clouds and rain did not deter us, and sure enough the sun broke through - just!
Off to Gainesville (the only airport in the region we could get our free flights from) to catch the 6pm flight to Charlotte, North Carolina, then connect to Phoenix. Checked bags have to be paid for, so image us trying to ram in as much as possible - bouncing up and down on the lid to compress the contents. Once on the scales - oops, two of them were overweight - a quick swap around of items, tearing of the undercarriage from Alex's suitcase (sorry Alex it's in the trash can at Gainesville) and carrying a bit more in the hand baggage and we managed it.
Arrived in a very hot Phoenix (80 degrees at 11pm) we picked up our home for 6 weeks - after Sharon explained her need for a large one (trunk) was me by the lady giving us the same size trunk as our recently sold Chevy - so we chose another and drove it out of the lot instead. Our 'hotel' is ok, in a slightly run down area, but then we are only paying about £25 a night including breakfast, and it has a small pool
Off the the big GC tomorrow and starry skys. See you later. Love K & S
