So, the day had finally arrived and the morning passed by in a flurry of activity. I dropped Zach off at Grandma's and got all the last minute packing done. After lunch, he went down for his nap, while I packed his dinner and put the last of the stray items away. We had a 1845 9w 7084 JetLite flight to Mumbai (I had tried to book the last flight possible to lessen the horrible Mumbai layover), and we thought it'd be best to leave around 5ish.

I got everyone ready, Zach was dressed and he was so clueless as to where he was going, poor guy, he only got excited when he saw Aaliyah had arrived! His most favorite person in the world! Oh she was buzzing with excitement and it was pretty contagious! Manzoor did his usual manic run to the airport, and we checked in only to realize the flight was delayed by an hour. Which seemed alright to me, as the connecting flight was at 130am on Cathay. I called Farhat to give her the news, didn't want Shamshi waiting outside for us unnecessarily. We hadn't even taken off, and I was already tired! Zach was running around like the energizer bunny, wanting to go up the escalator, and back down, and up again. I had packed a little kit with small toys he either hadn't seen in a long while, or new ones, so I figured it was definitely time to take something out! The mini doodle pro from Fisher Price seemed a good idea, and he sat down (whew!) to play with it.

He was great on the short flight to Mumbai. He was a lap kid and funny thing is the stewardess' were not really concerned about getting an extension seat belt for him and having him buckle up. Oh well. Works for me.  I was impressed with the renovated domestic airport. Much much better than it used to be. At least it looked like an airport now. Shamshi was waiting outside in a big SUV and she dropped us off at the International airport. We had plenty of time to go through the formalities, and Farhat's guy was waiting for us to take us to the Cathay check in counters. He bypassed all these people standing in a long queue, thank goodness, and took us straight to the business class counters which were totally empty (even though we didn't fly business class, he must have some pull at the airport). Zach had a small tantrum here, he was pulling on the elastic thingy's that keep people in line and I told him not to, and I figured it was time to put him in the stroller and give him his dinner. He was quite fascinated to be eating at an airport.

We got through immigration, and then security (we got to go through a special line coz Zach was in a stroller), and found this airport had been done up as well. It was a pain having to separate all the little items into the boxes, and folding up the stroller, then carrying him through, and here is where we screwed up a bit, but that will come later.

There were lots of food options. Godwin wanted KFC and Aaliyah and Ruth went to get some dosas. Zach was happy, sitting and eating fries. And this is about where the sh*t hit the fan, so to speak... I asked Godwin where the laptop, camera, wallet and other small-things-in-a-box were. He opened his backpack, looked, and yup, nothing. He took off at a run to where we went through security, me, Aaliyah and Zach followed. When we caught up, we found him talking to some security officers who was questioning him about the make, model and other details to verify the stuff was really his. Disaster averted. We got everything back. Lesson learned.

I found some seats that were empty and put Zach into his pjs, changed his diaper and got him ready to board the flight. I was hoping he would sleep before we got on. Considering take off was at 130am, I thought he would. No such luck. He was too wired up.

Next: the flight to Hong Kong.
