We drove from southernmost to northernmost point of Ninety Mile Beach to visit Cape Reinga - almost the most northerly tip of New Zealand (3km short). Cape Reinga is however the point where the Pacific Ocean meets the Tasain Sea and it was amazing to sea the two bodies of water crashing together (there is a pic but it doesn't show it very clearly) . This was followed up by body boarding down the giant sand dunes at Te Paki reserve.

That evening we had our first Department of Conservation camping experience with cold showers and long drop toilets at Rarawa Beach. It was well worth it as the white squeaky sand beach was beautiful and we were able to enjoy a twilight dip the rolling ocean.
