The food has been very cheap and interesting. Candice has tried a lot more than I have but I don't enjoy seafood. Anywhere you walk in the city; there are very different aromas from food to incense. We get everywhere on the MRT (subway) and it costs about $0.80 to get anywhere
We have covered a lot of the country. The first day we were here, the rain was coming down like cats and dogs. Turns out, they got 100mm of rain before noon and 60% of June’s average rainfall! We wondered around Orchard Ave where there are endless amounts of shopping centers after the rain slowed down. Oddly, prices are the same as home with the conversion. We went to Sentosa Island which is pretty much their Disneyland. We saw “pink” dolphins at the dolphin lagoon there and explored the island. A lot of Singapore is still under construction and when the financial crisis hit, a lot of the projects were put on hold but are now in full swing. There are cranes all over the place. The architecture is amazing –see in the pictures below.
We also went to Chinatown, Little India (stayed there the first 2 nights) and the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. The zoo was awesome –tons of animals although the shows were quite awful. The Night Safari is a different concept. We wondered trails that were dimly lit to see “nocturnal” animals. There wasn’t a ton to see but cool concept.
