G'day mate!! Life’s been a beach over here –nice and hot weather during the day (except a couple days). We went sea kayaking in Byron Bay and had the most perfect conditions. Our guide compared it for us in Canadian terms –fresh white powder in the morning on a ski run. It was awesome for kayaking, although going through a couple waves was cool. We saw sea turtles, a little shark, sting rays & a bunch of fish. The perfect conditions didn’t bring the dolphins in which was kind of a disappointment but turns out my underwater digital camera can hold its own and I got a few pictures of the turtles!!

We took the bus to Surfer’s Paradise where we met Shaun (Candice’s cousins friend) and him and his roommate put us up. We had a good night out on the town –he knew the owners of this awesome pizza place where we got an awesome deal then he showed us a few other bars in town. There is a place there that is known to have "Canadian people & things" there so they actually have Clamato juice there. When he said that I immediately wanted a Caesar. It was good but turned out to be the most expensive Caesar you could find I think. For that and a beer was $18.75 –so it was probably about $12. Ridiculous. Good thing it was good! Drinks haven’t been that pricey –that is the most expensive one we’ve seen.

Candice and I ended up skipping out on our kayaking adventure in Noosa Heads. So we enjoyed the apartment life and were able to go our laundry and chill out for a day. We watched the Montreal game at 9am here –was a bit weird watching a live game at that time. It rained all day in Surfers so we just watched movies. Felt good.

We then caught the bus up to Noosa Heads on Saturday morning. It is a small town on the water that is gorgeous. We hung out at the beach in the afternoon and got some swimming in. The water was so calm and you could see the fish swimming beneath you.

We arrived in Hervey Bay on Sunday, where we met another Canadian from Vancouver and 2 Norwegian’s who travelled with us to Fraser Island. It was a self-drive 4x4 adventure for 3 days where we went to the largest sand island in the world. There were 22 people all together that went and it was a riot! Although it rained off and on the first 2 days, it stayed away while we were setting up camp and cooking, we made the best of it. We camped out on the beach the first night where there are miles of beach along the ocean but you can’t actually swim in it because there are too many tiger sharks. There are also dingos who roam the island so they warn you to not go off on your own anywhere. We saw maybe 5 dingoes on the beach altogether. On the last day we were there, we went to a crystal clear lake where the sun actually came out. It was amazing! Check out all the pictures although it is hard to capture. We didn’t have any problems on the island at all and driving was pretty fun –although it was a very WEIRD feeling on the soft sand. It felt like the truck was going fall over from the weight.

Kyle has gone home now and Charlene and Lauren leave tomorrow. Candice and I are taking an overnight bus up the coast to Airlie Beach where we leave on the 29th for a 2 day/2 night catamaran adventure in the Whitsunday’s, part of the Great Barrier Reef. I am so excited to have someone else cook for me on a boat and snorkel there! Things have been going great but the speed of the trip will be slowing down, which will be nice.

Hope everything is good back where it is HOT I hear!! Although I can’t complain about the +25 today and chilling in Australia!
