Heyhey, just had the best solo day of campaigning for the arctic refuge as well as a wonderful day off which I spent hiking in Camden Hills State Park, ME. It turned out to be a warm and sunny day depite the rain from Sunday and very good for the soul--Maine is such a beautiful state and it felt so good to be outside (yey for smelling the trees!). Haha, anyways, I went on a short hike to Mt. Battie which everyone recommended but when it turned out to be quite the disappointment (too many people, not enough view) I was like, screw this!, and headed for higher ground. When I got to the top of Mt. Megunticook, I had found my spot. Spent the whole afternoon up there, chilling under a little tree atop this huge boulder, eating my lunch and catching up on my reading. The views were awesome in all directions and I think I coulda spent the night up there if I had only had the idea earlier (and if they park service didnt mind...=P). I finished off my day with a nice dip in a nearby lake and set up camp further along the road within a stone's throw (and earshot) of the ocean. Ahhhhh =).
