Funny note: as we headed toward the Island Beach State Park with the water to our left, I commmented on how I must have made a wrong turn since we were supposed to go south
. After a few exchanges Rebecca said, "Shannon, you're going the right way. The water's on the other side--we're not in California anymore!" Haha, it's like the toilet flushing the wrong way kinda thing huh! =P I had been weirded out the night before too as I floated in the sea at sunset and was like, Wait a sec, the sun isn't setting over the water!
Oh man, do I feel provincial. =P
We spent today tabling at the mall since it was rainy. Everyone knows just how much I love malls! Definitely the first blah day in a while. Also, Rebecca just got bad news about our schedule cuz it means she probably won't be able to visit friends in Maine. It sucks extra since it seems like we've been butting heads a bit more than usual as of late which obviously sucks too.
All in all though, life is good =) Thinking bout you all, Shannon
p.s. dya know that you can subscribe to my travelogue (and then I can have an idea of who is supposedly reading my ramblings!)
p.p.s omigosh--Stella's back from China! Rolo's back from Japan! (read about his travels http://www.travelpod.com/members/skidpadstuck)
p.p.p.s to all of you who thought life on the road was going to turn me into a chubster--HA
! I have not gained a single pound! In fact, between the constant dips, intermitten runs, and my adversion to eating out at random non-veg places, I feel as healthy as ever =) Here's a quick 'recipe' for part of my dindin tonight:
slice of multi-grain bread
2 slices of granny smith apple
1/2 banana sliced
one more piece of bread
Now don't knock it until youve tried it! ;-) YUM!
Hi everyone! Wow, what a great past few days! Yesterday was, in a word, bliss. =) First off, we stayed at our first B&B since everything else was as expensive or just plain SHADY. The house was a dream house basically, overlooked the bay and was about ten minutes to the beach. The couple that runs it is sooo friendly and supplied us with all the touristy info we needed plus beach gear for our wonderful surprise day off. Rebecca and I spent the entire day, from 1030am until 630pm, chilling on the Jersey shore. It was SO nice that I recommend that everyone take just one day outta your busy schedules to go lie on the sand, swim in the surf and just enjoy life. Just don't forget the sunscreen! (I have shed my yellowness for a crazy-dark brown). I swam, learned to bodysurf (if only I had my board!), napped and got in a little reading for the whole freakin day. My mind and body went like this: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... =)
