Life changing experience
Entry 7 of 7 | show all | print this entry |
Back to my cousins by myself on this trip down to the Snowy Mountains where we camped about 12km from Batlow on the banks of Blowering Dam. I experienced two important events on this trip - The first can be described as a 'epiphany' of the senses where I saw just how truly beautiful this world can be. Picture if you will the sun setting, glowing like the fiery eye of some mythical creature, causing the sky to become a marvelous blend of oranges and golds tinged with a purplish hue due to the scattered clouds. Imagine the sun slowly descending behind emerald green wooded hills, with the water of the dam stretching before you like some small ocean. This was amazing enough but then almost as if God himself had planned it, a herd of at least 200 kangaroos jump by along the shore of the dam, not more than 20 meters in front of where I stood. Truly a awesome experience. The other was the next night we were camping in the same spot and at around 10pm both me and my cousin noticed a very bright white light in the sky slowly drifting to the west - too big and mobile to be a star, so we first assumed it was a satellite or meteor. I have some knowledge of astronomy as most people that know me are aware of and it still struck me as strange as the light moved much too fast to be a man made satellite in geosynchronous orbit. The light then stopped moving, right above where we both knew the Tumut 3 Hydroelectric power station was located. It hung there motionless for around 15 minutes, then suddenly shot off to the west at such a high velocity that it was almost impossible to follow with your eyes.... *cue Twilight Zone theme song*
