So Sunday we went back to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. We went to the wax museum, then we went to Pier 39 to watch the sea lions sun bathe, and then took a tour on a WWII submarine. After that we set out for Lake Tahoe.
Monday was a day off. In the afternoon we walked for almost two miles, which left Jen winded with the effects of altitude sickness, so we took a bus home. Then we went to happy hour at a local pub, which had outstanding buffalo chicken.
Tuesday we went skiing at Northstar, which is actually on the north side of the lake (we're staying on the south side), but we decided to use one of our free lift tickets from Shell (buy ten gallons of gas, buy one get one free lift ticket). At first the conditions were terrible, but it softened up as the day went on. The best part was definitely at the end of the day when we skied a mile of moguls in one run
Wednesday was our first of three days of skiing at Heavenly. In the morning we got all our ski gear on, and walked from our hotel right into town where the Gondola is. We rode the Gondola to about 9,000 feet, which is where the main ski area is. Then we got on a lift which took us up to about 10,000 feet. We were a bit worried because the conditions weren't great (although they were better than Northstar), but we ended up finding some great trails that were a whole lotta fun. We met two ladies on the chairlift who were from England. We told them we were moving to London, and they were very excited. Our favorite two runs of the day were in Mott Canyon, with lots of trees, moguls, and steeps all in one run!
Today (Thursday) is another day of taking it easy. We took a leisurely walk down to the lake, although we could get to the beach because it's for members only. Tonight we're going to go out to see some music (and maybe we'll listen too). Tomorrow is another ski day!
