Another trip... due to commence.
Entry 267 of 270 | show all | print this entry |
Being on holidays has really increased my appetite to travel again... so much so that I'm in the early stages of planning my next trip... not a long one, a 6 week trip at the end of the year.
I'm thinking of going to Mexico and Central America. Given my tight time constraints, I'm thinking of going with GAP again. They have a good 32 day tour from Cancun, Mexico to San Jose, Costa Rica, passing through countries such as Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Gab raved about her time in Central America, and this part of the world is high on my list. The tour's code is JCS and the trip departure date is 22 December... anyone game enough to join me? Check out www.gapadventures.com for further details.
In terms of logistics, I'm thinking of doing the following:
Use frequent flyer points to fly from Perth to Sydney (return). Fly Sydney to Los Angeles, via Tokyo with Qantas/AA (return). Cost $AUD2200 return. I have one night to check out Tokyo... a great side benefit. I've never been to Japan before. Fly Los Angeles to Cancun with some Mexican Airline. Cost $AUD320. Fly frequent flyer points to fly San Jose to Los Angeles with AA. Fly Los Angeles to Sydney, via Tokyo with Qantas/AA. Use frequent flyer points to fly from Sydney to Perth, a few days before I have to start work again on January, 29.
The total cost of the flights are $AUD2,527 and 61,000 Qantas frequent flyer points. Not a bad deal!
Check out www.zuji.com.au for the lowest possible flights online for any flight segment throughout the world. A great resource for people booking flights as they go. Please... anyone else, let me know if there are any others:)
Initially I was going to go to South East Asia at the end of the year, but this seems too good a deal to pass up. All of the flight details fit in with my holidays and I don't care less about spending Christmas and New Year's in Central America. Trying to find someone to go with though!
The cost of the tour is $US1195 + $US400 local payment... about $AUD2,000. And it's a great time for us Aussies to go travelling to given the strength of the dollar (currently trading at 84 US cents to the Aussie dollar... last year it was in the low to mid 70s).
All of this has been organised through searching the Internet and ringing Qantas... EASY.
Cheers, Shane.
