On entering Ilha Grande´s main port, I was instantly brought back into paradise. The island is absolutely beautiful and reminiscent of my time in South East Asia (tropical Malaysia etc.). The beaches are first class... the best I´ve seen and I so desperately want to return to do the island more justice (when the weather is fine). Julio recommended this island as a ´must do´ and I can see why... not only is it beautiful to look at, the locals are welcoming, up for a party, interested in locals and keen to make our time as enjoyable as possible. It is tropical like places with a nightlife that appeal to me most... I have started to think that my next Xmas holiday will be to Queensland, Australia (Brisbane, Cairns, Surfer´s Paradise etc.). Let me know if you want to meet up or come!

Even though the weather was second class (it rained on the third day when we were suppose to trek to the best beach in Brazil), we had a good time. On the second day, we spent a day on a booze boat cruising around the island and sipped caprinhas (Brazilian cocktail) whilst soaking in the stunning scenery... It was like I was on a movie set or something with a boatful of mostly 20 year old somethings in briefs and bikinis, salivating and playing around with the young and very toned Brazillian skipper. I highly recommend this boat cruise for visitors... a lot of fun and great way to introduce yourself to the islands. You have the option to swim in a number of areas if that´s what you want...I had fun getting relatively intoxicated with Michelle and Julia... two wild Irish girls and great to have toured with from BA to Rio.

Ilha Grande´s nightlife is basically confined to the one and only pub, with a full concoction of local lads. Hanging around a group of girls was very useful for meeting the locals... especially Michelle and Julia who had up to 10 local guys hanging around, hoping to be escorted for the night. Michelle made the mistake of ínadvertently´getting involved in a 16 year old and hasn´t lived it down since... she made up for it on the second night by meeting a 25 year old! I can´t believe how young the guys start here... and they were so professional at chatting up the girls. The guys we met were a lot of fun... spoke English, brought us drinks and made sure we got back to our hotel safely!

On the fourth morning, we boarded our boat and returned to Agrar for the final bus trip of my trip RTW... to Rio De Janeiro. I have looked forward to this city for years and can´t wait to see, feel and experience it! I am loving the travelling at the moment and just ache at the thought of having to end it and return to normality.
