Pisco to Nazca Lines

I´m feeling a bit negative at the moment (I want to go back to Lima!) so will keep this brief... I´m in the small town of Nazca (on the weekend mind you) which provides little scope for nightlife. The smaller towns of Peru, have on the whole, been disappointing... but I have been assured that Cuzco (Machu Pichu) (and Lima) are the best places to visit.
I´m craving my own space... and the nature of independent travel once again. I´m getting to the stage where I need to remove myself from the group to make me sane once again. I´ve been speaking to a local in Cuzco for several years now (internet buddy) so look forward to meeting up with him. Julio has also offered to introduce me to some of his friends in Cuzco. In terms of my own travelling style, I´ve learnt that a few friendly faces from home NOW AND AGAIN is ok, but I prefer to meet the locals. Don´t get me wrong... some of the people in this group are absolutely fantastic and I really enjoy the company of Claire and Jill from the UK, Jemma from Melbourne and Sasha from the US... but in small doses! We´ll see how we go over the next few days. I actually miss the nature of dorms... people come and go from all over the world.
I hope I snap out of this mood soon... but not likely given that I have another overnight bus to Arequipa tonight. YUCK! At least the overnighters in Asia and Europe were mostly very comfortable sleepers... it´s tough travelling here. So glad I have 9 weeks to do the cone route of South America at a fairly comfortable pace. Anyway, today I flew over the Nazca Lines, here in Nazca. We did this for US45... for 30 minutes. Given that I have flown in many small aircrafts before, I wasn´t overly excited... the lines themselves were pretty ordinary... many animals drawn into the sand by who knows what means... but several centuries ago, up to 600 years BC. Worth further research! I was very nauseus at the end of the flight, and I had to hold back the vomit. Poor Jemma... she vomited in the plane. It is the first time that I´ve experienced air sickness. And to think that I once wanted to be a pilot!
