Galway is a great place to hang out for a few days... I can see why it's Europe's fastest growing city. Everything, bar the parking situation, is excellent. I'm kind of glad that I've got a car for only 2 weeks out of 52 because, apart from being able to travel within Ireland with ease, its a real hassle when getting into cities... there is no parking and the parking that is available costs heaps (18 euro... $32 for 24 hours).

I went to the Tourist Information Bureau this morning to 'try' to organise my accommodation for Belfast/Dublin. Whilst Belfast was easy, everything upto 2 hours drive from Dublin has been fully booked due to three concerts playing this Saturday night (Robbie Williams is one... wish I could of gone). This is a real hassle for me given that I wanted to meet up with my mate from Melbourne in Dublin. I have a contact (through Wendy) who lives in Blessington (short drive from Dublin) but I think it would be kind of rude to ask him for a room given that I've never met him. So, I've organised to stay in Belfast for 4 nights (Wed-Sat) and then 1 night in Dublin (Sun)... the balance isn't there but I've heard that Belfast is a good town to hang out in. It's a real s*** because I wanted to stay in Dublin given I've got people to catch up... I don't know anyone in Belfast. I'm staying in a B&B so parking shouldn't be a problem.

But of all the countries I've been to, I can't recall a more difficult time I've had with organising accommodation... I was with the Tourist Office for 1 hour and I could definitely sense the frustration in the guy who was helping me. Can you imagine those poor backpackers who arrive on Saturday night not knowing the situation... they'll have no option but to sleep at the airport. People with cars will have to sleep in them. I was super organised for my first stop (Singapore) and booked a month in advance... I think I will have to get back into this routine for Europe. The flexibility of moving from place to place when I feel like it may have to be put on the wayside.
