I had the best uninterrupted sleep last night... NO snorers and NO late people unzipping their bags in the middle of the night. Other backpackers who have hostelled will be able to empathise with this comment:) It is sensational having such comfort for my two weeks here in England.
I ventured out to the Australian High Commission to complete my business for replacing my lost passport. I had to wait for 3 hours before being invited to speak to a consular official to have my form checked. The photos were not good enough so I had to go to Snappy Shot to get some new passport photos. However, the lovely English lady behind the counter ACCEPTED my application and I will have my new passport posted to me in 4 days... at a cost of £100 ($250 thank you!) but travel insurance should be able to cover that. I have since contacted my travel insurance company, Zurich, who will be emailing me the claims form. All I have to do is fill it in, attach all receipts and police reports, and submit it for processing. Let's hope I get all $600 back! It will help out my dwindling credit card balance:)
I LOVE London... I just love walking through the historic parts of this unbelievable town. It takes me back to 2000 when I simply loved everyday of being here. But I must admit that the people don't do much for me... rush, rush, rush and NO eye contact... but they are ever so friendly and helpful when I ask for directions... and they speak English... YES!
I'm developing a bit of an itinerary for my time here in England. I think I may go to Brighton for the weekend... I've heard the nightlife is good down there. This week, I may go to Cambridge for a day. I have since lost Dave's (Bristol... met on Vietnam tour) email address so I'm hoping to get it off Intrepid. The following weekend, I'm going out to Wales to visit James' farm. Can't wait. I'm loving my time here in England so far.
