If anyone is going to Jerantut (note: Hotel Sri Emas), please be careful. As I mentioned in a previous entry, I have had my first bit of trouble here. The hotel offers a storage room to put all of your supplies. It is partly my fault as to what happened. Luckily, I removed all valuable items except my air tickets and one of three stashes of $US100 notes I have in case of emergencies. I am kicking myself because these things should have come with me. I am very relieved, however, that I did not leave things like my MP3, digital camera, passport and other money. Luckily, they did not take my air tickets. I can see why... noone but I can use them. I'm glad they didn't take these because it would of been inconvenient for me to replace them.

Anyway, someone had gone through every single item of mine and took the US100 and one shirt that I brought from Singapore (value $10) A well earnt drink.
A well earnt drink.
. It sounds kind of convenient to me that the hotel organises your 3 days away, and agrees to look after your things. However, I am not absolutely sure that it was the hotel staff that stole my money but highly likely. It could of been another traveller but I doubt it. For this reason, I did not bother reporting it.

I have learnt my first lesson of Asia: be extra, extra vigilant of your valuables. Assume that if you leave anything with anyone (including storage), it will probably be tampered with. I can continue to ask myself 'why didn't I lock the bag with one of my spare locks', but I was so tired and in such a rush that morning I wasn't really thinking 100%. I just hope that the $US100 goes to someone desperately in need of it. For me, it means two days budget out the door but I'm sure I will make up for it.

At the hotel, given my state of my last room, I decided to upgrade to a single ensuite costing a total of $20 - a great deal, but maybe not so great given my $US100 loss.

Anyway, I have attached some more photos from my awesome trip to Taman Negara.

i'm sorry...
After reading your message, me, as a part in this town feels that i have the responsibility to apologize for the unhappy experience that happen to you in Jerantut town. I totally understand your feeling and also agreed with your statement, 'be extra, extra vigilant of your valuables' especially in Asia. Of cause this doesn't means that i do not have the spirit of patriotic, but undenialable that is the fact which is when you visit some Asia country, especially under developed country.

Be a part in this country, i did feel proud it is because this country has to consider as peaceful as there is no war or big disaster happened compared with other Asia country. But on the other hand, we have to admit the education towards the public , especially when come to the matter of public awareness and civilazation for the people over here as compared to those developed country we still have a long way to go. Maybe there might be people who not agreed with my statement, Yet, i feel that nothing have to be shamed of if let the world knowing the truth, instead of hiding it behind the screen.

Well, all i can say this is the culture which already exist in the society since older days, so it's hardly to change this 'tradition' over time. However, this is not a message to the world not to visit to the National Park or Jerantut Town in Malaysia, cause no one can predict what will happen eventhough when you are in other country, similar thing might be happened as well maybe the possibilities is lower; but a message to people out there since we cant change the environment, so when next time if you plan to pay a visit over here just watch out your valuebles.

Meanwhile, i would like to invite people who had read my message browse thru' http://www.jerantut.com. Here you can meet up some people who you can trust and rely if you pay your visit to Jerantut Town in Malaysia. Hope you all enjoy your trip in the future.

Good day to all of you and God bless.

Cheers~!~!
