Week 12 Jan 19-25
With a days recovery in Arequipa on Monday after the canyon, I managed to successfully meet up with Brendan and we pruchased tickets for the same overnight bus to Nazca. He decided he was going to travel with me as far as Lima.  My intention was to get to Lima via Nazca and Ica as quick as possible while still squeezing in all there was to see. From Lima my goal is to fly to Iquitos in north Peru, get a boat down the Amazon to the border enter Brazil and get another boat to Manaus all in time for Alison´s arrival on Saturday 31st. I couldnt find any information on boats on the Brazilian side I am hoping there will be a boat to allow me to acheive all of this!

The nightbus from Arequipa arrived into Nazca at about 7.30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. We decided not to hang around and immediately got the taxi to the airport to find a flight over the Nazca lines. Our haggling skills were useless as all the airlines were in cahoots and had the same, in my opinion, extortionate fares. Shane and The Pilot

However if you´re going to see the lines this is the only way to do it properly so we reluctantly handed over the cash. 30 minutes later we were in the air albeit in seperate planes.  My pilot was nuts. I got the impression that alot of these guys were failed or wannabe airline pilots and this was the only option to that classic line out of Top Gun. ¨flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong¨.  See the photos below for my snaps and here is some background on the lines as alot of it will probably seem like waffle coming from me.
