A 'free' day in Lima before the tour starts tomorrow.

This gave us a chance to sort out our luggage, do some washing and some basic shopping.

We're in one of the nicer parts of Lima and wandered down to a shopping mall that could almost have been anywhere in the world. It is on the sea front, not a great view as the day was cloudy and there was lots of sea fog (or is it smog?).

For a laugh we braved a local hairdresser and got our hair cut. Their English was as good as our Spanish so that was fun. The use of a cut throat razor was a bit unnerving but we both still have 2 ears. Total cost 3 quid each.

We've had / read lots of warnings about personal security in Peru. Reassuring then to see the place we stopped for lunch (in the up market shopping centre) was pad locking womens' handbags to their chairs.

In the evening, we met the tour leader and the rest of the group. Both of them! This is going to be cosy.

Another taxi ride to a restaurant for dinner - reminds us of fun in taxis in Cairo, (except that the cars are in better nick in Egypt).
