A guided tour around most of Easter Island.
The island is not very large - perhaps 20k at its widest. It is triangular with an extinct volcano at each corner. It's not as mountainous as Tahiti - no peak above 500m. It's fairly green - scrubland rather than rainforest.
The weather is rapid - showers and sunshine blow through on a continuous wind.
Our little minibus went to the main Moai sites (the ones you see on postcards,in documentaries etc). However, there are Moai platforms all over the place.
The main highlights are the reconstucted platform with 15 Moai on it - one even has its hat, though none have their eyes - and the quarry where they quarried and carved the Moai - it has lots of Moai in varying states of completion.
Tomorrow is another flight - this time to Santiago, where we will spend a mere 24 hours before guess what, another flight.
