New Zealand is a big hole in our itinerary. We have 2 nights accomodation in Christchurch and that's it. The only other certainty is that we leave NZ for Tahiti on 9th June. It'll be a nice change not having a fixed plan...
Some thoughts on Australia:
Big.
Full of strange, exotic things (most of them poisonous).
Sunny and hot.
Lots of decent, fresh food (esp. seafood & fruit).
Empty inside - vast spaces of nothing.
Dreadful television (and the adverts - which seem to be the only things they actually make themselves - are worse).
Racially diverse (lots of Chinese, Japanese, Koreans), though with a big racial problem.
A curious mix of first world, second world and occasionally even third world.
Small cities - save Sydney which is much more a European city in size and feel.
Technologically backward (compared to the UK).
Relaxed & friendly.
