This morning the rains that have been forecast ever since we arrived finally turned up. As a result, we changed our original plans and decided to be proper tourists.

We crossed the road from our hotel to go to the Sydney Aquarium and the Wildlife World.

Have to say that the aquarium was far more interesting than expected (especially as we'd been to one in Singapore). In addition to the fish they had a Crocodile, little penguins and a seal / sealion area. The shark walkway and Seal walkway were very good, some seriously big creatures in these tanks including turtles.

The wildlife place was a bit more of a speed visit as neither of us particularly wants to linger at the countdown of exhibits of "World's most venomous snakes" and "World's deadliest spiders" 01 Turtle

. It seemed that the only animals that weren't poisonous were designed by a 4 year old (i.e. the duck billed platypus).

There were, however, several species of wallaby and we got to the koala enclosure in time to see the keepers attempting to get them down from the trees for the weekly weigh-in. This was an interesting battle of wills. When the keepers finally got a koala down from the tree it would promptly pee on them (is this how it is at weight watchers etc?).

In the afternoon, we thought we'd catch the train to Bondi beach, but having got to the train station there, it gave every impression that the heavens were about to open and there was still a bus journey to find the sand, so we gave up and came back to the city.

Late evening we went up the Sydney tower to check out the panoramic views.
