This morning we left the train and arrived in the centre of Sydney.
Sarah's first thought was "there's a lot more hills than I was expecting".
This is a big city. Unlike Adelaide and Perth which are both "quaint", Sydney is a big city with lots of people, lots of traffic, lots of traffic queues, lots of skyscrapers.
The first thing that we did was to wander down to the rocks area which is the home of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Having strolled around here and had lunch we walked through the botanical gardens, avoiding the hordes of lunchtime joggers, and finally made it round to the peninsula so that we could take the postcard shots of the Opera House and the Bridge together.
We caught the ferry back from the Wharf to our hotel in Darling harbour, which isn't quite as lazy as it sounds, as it was an excuse to get out on a boat in the harbour to take some pictures - and it was 4 stops on the ferry!
One final thought about today - the guide books etc lie. The Opera House is not white, it's a fairly dull shade of beige / magnolia.
