After a lazy get up we decided to go for a walk to explore the local area and to find somewhere for lunch. Walking the streets is a challenge - most of the pavements have large trees growing out of them (it's the French influence, tree lined boulevards), there are people selling things on the pavement, many of the "proper" shops spill out onto the pavements and the pavements are also used for parking mopeds (millions of them). And often the pavements are used by moped drivers as an alternative to the road, as they are typically less congested,
Despite being Sunday the streets are heaving and most of the shops seem to be open for business. And it's warm - mid 80s but with less humidity than Bangkok.
We're in the realm of silly money - lunch was 500,000 VCD (Vietnamese Dong). No wonder they often prefer the US Dollar, it offers much more sensible figures.
This evening we met the rest of the tour group.
