Hooray, panic over, disaster averted - Sarah has worked out where the missing $8 was spent. This means we don't need to spend the rest of the day locked in our hotel room doing an audit.

It was postcards - so those people honoured enough to receive them had better be really, really grateful!

Today was also supposed to be heavy rain etc. Just for a change it wasn't - it was cloudy, sometimes sunny, hot and humid. We've given up with looking at the forecast for Hong Kong.

So, ignoring the forecast we went to Lantau - one of the other islands that make up Hong Kong - to see a giant Buddha (no Sarah, I wasn't going to make a mother in law joke at this point!)

The monastery has been there since 1905, the Buddha is a recent arrival (finished in 1993). To get near the Buddha you spend 25 minutes in a cable car going across several bits of water and then up into the hills.

The Buddha is at the top of a hill with a climb of 268 steps to get up close to him. Sarah decided a seat and a can of Coke was a better option, whilst I did the honourable thing and went up and down the hill.

There were lots of shops full of interesting, Buddha-related objects (also known as tourist tat).

For a change dinner was Cantonese food!
