Today started with a trip on the MTR to get to a meeting point for our a tour of Hong Kong island.
First up was a trip on a Sampan, a fishing boat to see the floating community of Aberdeen (and I thought that was Scotland - always knew my geography was rubbish).
Next stop was a tourist trap, sorry interesting, local industry. A jewellery designer and manufacturer to be precise. Sarah was tempted by all the bright, shiny things but for a change strength of character (eh?) won over and she resisted , Shane was completely disinterested as he had bought himself some new cufflinks yesterday so had exhausted his shiny budget!
Next stop was Stanley and its market. Stanley is an old fishing village that has a massive tourist market. We wondered along the sea front then briefly entered the market. Sarah brought a couple of Chinese style tops for herself - so normal service was resumed.
Then we went to the look out at Victoria peak for a photo stop. This gives you a view of part of Hong Kong Island, across the water to Kowloon and beyond to the other islands.
Then down in the tram, back onto the bus and back to our pick-up point. After a brief walk it was back on the MTR to our hotel for some down time (our body clocks are still a bit off) and some admin (writing this stuff). Sarah has immediately dropped back into character and is religiously (and I deliberately use that particular word) checking the daily monies (I am truly surprised that she didn't install a copy of Sage on the laptop).
The evening featured another attempt at local cuisine, got closer this time - Vietnamese.
The weather was an improvement on yesterday, some sunny moments, a bit warmer, only a little rain and, thankfully, the humidity has dropped quite a bit. The forecast is that tomorrow will be wet but then the rest of our time here is due to be sunny.
