We arrived in Hong Kong mid afternoon after a reasonable flight.

First impressions of Hong Kong, gained from the transfer to our hotel:

- It's a mix of skyscrapers and green hills.
- A fast moving motorway system with a network of tunnels and bridges linking the various islands.
- A mix of old and modern (although initially old seemed to be 1960's tower blocks).
- Closer to the centre of Hong Kong it became a lot more modern - glass skyscrapers etc.

Then we got off the motorway and into the centre of Hong Kong proper (this is Hong Kong island a part of Hong Kong) The view from our window

. The roads became narrower and congested. The whole feel of the thing is much more Chinese - with the open fronted shops and neon signs.

Sarah's first impression - it wos waining lots!

We arrived in the tail end of a typhoon, the next one hits Hong Kong early next week.

We're staying in a small boutique hotel - a mere 34 floors. It's in the middle of Hong Kong island, close to the Soho area for food, the docks for ferries and an MTR (underground) station for travel.

After checking in, we went for a short walk to familiarise ourselves with the area around our hotel and then it was off to dinner. We decided to start with something local so went to an Argentinian restaurant.
