Overnight it began to rain & rain & rain. Packing up the tent in the rain was not a lot of fun and luckily we had found a bit of higher ground and were out of the puddles that had formed. We drove into Nuremberg where it continued to rain even harder. The town like so many others was full of photo opportunities and historic sites. Tim (Elisha brother) & Ben McCosh and 2 other friends ... were riding motor bikes across Europe and were only a few hundred kilometres to the west of us. With a few text messages we arranged to meet up. With the rain still flogging down at a torrential rate they turned up, wet as shags, shivering and blue in the face from the cold at the 160 – 170 km p/h they had been riding at. We found a small Italian restaurant for lunch where we exchanged some travel stories and a few laughs
We left them as they continued on their way to Amberg and we headed the opposite direction to Bamberg, which was close, but slow trip in peak hour. Tim seemed happy to have been momentarily reunited with his car. We managed to find some accommodation above beer house Bamberger Weissbierhaus (pub) which was comfortable. After checking in we went to the Brauerei Spezial for dinner. We had Jauggerschnitzel and fish with kartoffelsalat (potato salad) washed down with one of the local specialties "smoked Beer", an acquired taste we decided. We also tried the spezial brew across the road and then at the pub we were staying at.Then stumbled up to our bed to get some sleep.
