Notes from the trail...
Entry 24 of 36 | show all | print this entry |
Hello all. First, I would like to say thanks to everyone that has been posting me and adding stuff to my guest book. Your feedback is great and helps fill that little hole that is home for me! Im in Killarney, which sits on the border of Killarney National Park. I got in last night, and found a couple nights accomodation at the Neptune hostel. The room is relatively cheap, but 8 of us are crammed in to a little room on the top floor. The ceilings are gabled, Im on the top bunk, and I have cracked my head on the ceiling twice, once this morning (Oww! what a way to wake up!) and once when I got in from my hike (what a way to cap a 15 + mile day!). I hiked down to Ross Castle, along the Ross island (peninsula) and then down to Muckross Abbey and House. The house is a mansion with prime gardens, really over the top. From there I did the relatively short hike to Troc Falls. Great stuff, and the hike up the mountain paid off with great views. Unfortunately, I will have to post pix later, as this computer has no accessible USB ports. Some tips from the trail, When using the phone...Do not, I repeat, DO NOT FART IN THE PHONE BOOTH WHILE YOU ARE CALLING LONG DISTANCE. You are stuck in there for the duration of the call, and you are paying for it. On getting a room...Try NOT to get a room that has a window that opens to a pub. Even three stories up, The irish can be heard partying late into the night. On hostel beds... So far the beds have been relatively comfy. The problem is they are all made for kids I think. It is like sleeping in a shoe box! Thus, My neck has a wicked crook in it! On people speaking English, French, Dutch, German, etc... It does not matter, if they are not from the states, you can't understand them, just smile and nod. well, that is all, love you all like a fat kid loves cake! mfs
