Left Wall early. This section of the hike is loaded with goodies. The first stretch of wall was at Brunton. Now I am seeing not jest the base, but several feet (there are no original sections of 12' wall) as well as the foundations of turrets and milecastles (located every roman mile along the wall).
Next was Chesters bridge, and across the River North Tyne, Chesters Fort. Tops to the folks at Chesters. A well organized display of the fort and a rockin' museum. After Chesters, headed to the most dramatic parts of the hike (i think). At Brocolitia, there is an intact Mithraeum, (Temple to Mithras). The altars and posts are all casts taken from the originals
Saw the fort of Housesteads, and then, in the last part of Friday's hike, Sycamore Gap.
Ch-ch-ch-check it out.
Anyway, I am a tad bit burnt, (sun and wind) and my feet are re-cooping from some blisters. I've put a couple holes in the soles of my boots. I'll have to see if they start leaking when it starts to rain. so far so good, dry and decent weather...
