The day arrived for us to board our Alaskan Cruise. Getting through US immigration proved a little harrowing again due to my Osoyoos faur paux border crossing. I was taken into a small room off the side for my fingerprint details to be 'checked out'.. After a nerve-racking wait a US Officer finally came out and proceeded laughing at me. 'So you crossed the border.... without your passport?...." I confirmed that was true "Yes, we crossed by accident." "Ok, Enjoy your trip." She said with a smile. I'm sure I will forever have a note against my name that implies I am an idiot.
Tristan and I then boarded our Celebrity Ship. On arrival where we were treated to champagne and then climbed to the top deck to bask in the remaining afternoon sunshine. The huge crew were extremely outgoing, friendly and welcoming. It was almost a little scary. In a couple of days I'd gone from being covered in dirt to being waited on like a lady. In the dining room we are served 5 courses each night. Our table has it's own waiter and assistant waiter and a sommelier if you would like to order wine. Our table is set with a variety of bread rolls, bread sticks that you can accompany with a hummus decorated with flecks of gold or butter formed into flowers. The food has been one of the highlights of this cruise. Considering the huge numbers of people they are providing for in each sitting the standard of cuisine is excellent. Nearly every appetite has been catered for from escargot to soufflé , lobster to rib eyes steak. Breakfast and lunch is an open buffet style offering. My only criticism would be whether this is two much. There are roughly 1,800 passengers on board and about 800 staff.  The cruise line claims to produce over 9,000 meals a day I can't help wondering how much of this food is wasted.
Our cabin is windowless but very comfortable and in the centre of this ship which has been fantastic for the reducing the effect of rocking. Tristan settled into the cabin by creating a chocolate drawer for his Caramello Koalas and Tim Tams - which he mostly looks at and I mostly eat. Some of our dinner companions have deluxe suites with their own personal butler and tell us stories or receiving towels folded into animal shapes; we can only imagine what this is like but it sounds a little over-the-top!

Great news that you cruise is going well I am at sea at the present but your cruise sound better. I just spent two hours repairng a toilet! Love for Dad & Ev
