then we met neil at the hostel - lovely scottish guy - and he came out to dinner with us at locos, lovely food, great place. a lot of red wine, and then we met mick who took us to groovy place, very relaxed and lots of cushions and mojitos and shisha for the apple tobacco smoking, and then we walked home and got a bit lost so passed this karaoke bar twice so decided that was fate calling us in so went in sung some james brown, had a dance, met some brazilian guys, medical students and a brother and so went back to theirs for more dancing and then came home about 6am this morning. a very fun night. not much done today surprisingly but off for dinner soon. god i have rambled - if you have managed to read this far, sorry.
11 hour journey on the bus overnight to get here and what a journey it was. ambers seat collapsed ón the girl behind us, after about 20 minutes of driving the lights went off so it was very very dark the whole way (very few streetlights in the mountains), the rain poured down and we found ourselves in the middle of a thunderstorm - the bus lit up a couple of times followed half a second later by thunder so loud it woke everyone on the bus. the road was very bumpy all the way, there was no barrier at the side of the road and many times we were just a few feet away from the edge of a cliff edge (had to stop looking out the window) and the bus driver just hurtled along at pace. and then, during the thuderstorm, water started dripping heavily through the roof right onto my lap. had to cover with my coat and a plastic bag. we stopped twice for loo stops and made it to sucre at 7 in the morning. éasy to understand why bus accidents are so frequent here! doing again tomorrow night on our way to uyuni but think the road may be paved this time. yesterday we went to the hairdressers. for those of you who know me well, you may recall me talking about an exceptionally bad haircut i had in australia - the cross between lloyd christmas out of dumb and dumber and jet from the gladiators - well i have found an even worse hairdresser and yesterday, for about 2 hours, sported an even worse haircut. amber was sat behind me in the hairdressers and actually burst out laughing everytime she looked at what was going on. i asked for a bit shorter and choppy. i got a bowl cut gone wrong with step edges at the sides, my hair cut in very straight line down to a triangle peak at the back, and then a centre parting with the fringe and top blown dry out into volumous curls. it was absolutely horrific (ambers words were "the worst haircut she has ever seen") i was able to join in the laughing as am miles from home and no one will see. and also because it didn´t last long. we passed a better looking hairdressers and went in and asked if they could rescue me. they did. my hair is very short now but styled and thank god i do not have the other cut anymore (i may give you a laugh and put up photos. maybe).
