we rolled into mazatlan in style in our 1980s chevy van maxing out the speedometer at 85 passing everyone on the carretera. the driving here is fucking scary and sickening to say the least with a lot of slamming on the breaks. i mean a lot. slamming on the breaks to avoid semis parked on the freeway slamming to avoid hitting food and bird pedalers who get way to close for the chance to sell something slamming to avoid flying when hitting a row of speed humps yes speed humps on the freeway. but the roads are quite safe so far actually, there are many many many signs reminding people to drive safely and warning us whats coming....except that it takes a few near death experiences to figure out what it is they say. no hablamos muchos espanol!

last night we parked the van in a mall parking lot and slept there. it was scary when the policia came to talk to us we though maybe they were gonna rob us going my stereotypes but they said just park over there in the light and we will guard you all night least thats what we thought they said cuz it was in spanish.

i, raina, slept on top of the van because i hate sleeping in chairs it fucking sucks and my butt hurts from driving 2,000 miles in the last week. being on top the can was a little scary but the policia watched me all nigth from 100 or so meters away so yeah i felt pretty safe cuz he had a baton and he kept the other police away. when they came he just went and talked to them and they left.. que suerte!

next stop guadalajara. if we die it will be from a head on collision.
oh and today savannah sat in dog poop!
