We spent the night in a small park south of Greymouth.  From there it was a nice drive up the coast.  We stopped for a bit in Punakaiki to check out the pancake rocks and blowholes.  Unfortunately the conditions were not right for blowholes to occur, so no blowholes for us that day.  The pancake rocks were pretty cool rock formations, but the most fun we had there was checking out the terns breeding there and darting about the rocks.

After reaching Westport, we headed inland towards Murchison and up to Abel Tasman National Park.  We rushed up to Abel Tasman since we wanted to book a kayak trip the following day.  Late in the evening in Motueka, we managed to get the last 2 spots on a cool-sounding kayak tour with Kiwi Kayaks.  We were relieved as according to the weather forecast, the 19th was supposed to have better weather than the 20th!

We then drove up to Marahau to spend the night, and got a free camping spot, which was a double bonus! (We love free camping sites!)
