Day 9 May 25

We wake to more rain.  Probably didn't stop. The guy next to us says it's been raining for 3 days straight.  We decide its a good time to go into town to get the lay of the land from the car.  Find a coffee/internet cafe called Tuff Beans.  Busy place.  Cute hippie boy working. Two dollar coffee.  Excellent.  Found out that 5$ a rather large load of laundry at our campsite is cheaper then the laundromat downtown at 4$ a wash and .25$ for three minutes of dry time.  Hit up a hardware store for more rope and an extension cord.  I think the guy who works there may be into metal.  Find out.  Then back to the campsite and it's still raining.  Oh well, here we go. Set up tarp in about an hour, used car as a ladder to get a good height.  After about an hour of sitting in our chair enjoying the break from the rain, while not in our car, I notice a small, weak patch of blue, some unbeknownst distance away over the ocean.  It's going to clear up I declare. No, Jess says, the wind is bringing those dark clods over there. That's our weather, it's gonna keep raining.  No! It's gonna happen, was my only defense.  Hours later, like 3, those dark clouds behind us turned blue and we had what can only be called a glorious afternoon.  The tide was out and we were walking on the beach when Jess says randomly, What is that? Something is making my arms tingle.  Holy Cats! It's the sun!
Our new neighbors arrived.  Brett, Pearl and Hanna.  They actually live on Strawberry island, but wanted an adventure so have come to mackenzie beach.  Which is my home for the next month and a half! WHOO!  After adventuring we rearrange the site all feng shui and set up the tent.  Unfortunately even though I hear we have the pimpenest spot around, I still think it needs some work.  Almost there though, three more items. I really hope the grommets on the tarp hold out, they be stretched tight.  Anyways, off topic.  Camp was set, the fire was started, time for steaks, and grilled asparagus over an open fire.  So delicious we ate almost all of it before getting the camera together to take a picture.  Then we just took it easy.  Tidied a bit but did not clean.  then sat by the fire, sipping wine and listening to the surf.  Jess went to bed just as the moon was breaking through the clouds, it was epic.  Every thing lit up.  I wish my camera had better low light capabilities.  As I tried to journal by the fire I grew ever more tired until finally I woke up next to dying embers with half a glass of wine in my hand.  So I turned in as well.
